Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 has been released for 4.1.
This will jailbreak iPod2G, 3G, 4G, iPhone3G, 3GS, 4, iPad, and AppleTV 2G. This jailbreak uses the famous "Limera1n" exploit, discovered by geohot. But it adds a few extras:
- Custom bootlogos for iPhone 3G/iPhone 3GS/iPod 2G users (with qualifying bootroms)
- An option that implements the "DFU" button in PwnageTool. This button lets Windows users to use PwnageTool custom IPSWs.
Let me explain: you get a trusted friend to build the IPSW on a Mac, then you use the "DFU" button to exploit your device, leaving it vulnerable. Then you Shift+Restore in iTunes, select the custom IPSW, and let iTunes do the rest.
This is good news for AppleTV users, because no other jailbreak tool supports this device entirely.
